Mrs Daffodil Takes an Easter Holiday

Mother and Daughter on Easter, Mela Koehler, 1917 http://www.mfa.org/collections/object/mother-and-daughter-on-easter-577280

Mrs Daffodil is taking a brief Spring holiday over the week-end, but will return next week. She wishes you all the brightest of sunshine, the prettiest of hats, and the creamiest of deluxe chocolate crème eggs.

Mrs Daffodil invites you to join her on the curiously named “Face-book,” where you will find a feast of fashion hints, fads and fancies, and historical anecdotes

You may read about a sentimental succubus, a vengeful seamstress’s ghost, Victorian mourning gone horribly wrong, and, of course, Mrs Daffodil’s efficient tidying up after a distasteful decapitation in A Spot of Bother: Four Macabre Tales.

Things are very busy at the Hall this Easter week-end, so Mrs Daffodil will don her best black taffeta apron and attend to her duties, which include supervising the dyeing and concealment of several hundred eggs about the grounds. One can confidently assert that some of the imported chocolate eggs provided by her Ladyship will be overlooked in the melee, to be later discovered and enjoyed by the staff.

Mrs Daffodil will return Wednesday next, but invites her readers to join her on her oddly named “Face-book” page for lovely images of Easter bonnets and hats.
